The access question changes, and the sites do not say so
Borobudur’s visitor rules have changed repeatedly: quota systems, upper-terrace restrictions, mandatory footwear, guided-only access to certain levels, and the separation between viewing sunrise from the temple and viewing it from Setumbu or Punthuk Setumbu nearby. A great deal of content still sold as current describes an arrangement that no longer exists. Our pages state which access product is being described, whether it includes the temple structure itself or only the grounds, and the date we last confirmed it.
Where the rules come from
Access, quota and ticketing information is taken from the site management authority and the ticketing operator rather than from resellers. Where a reseller advertises access that the authority does not publish, we treat the claim as unverified and label it. Sunrise timing is calculated for the site coordinates rather than quoted from a generic almanac.
What we do not claim
We do not control temple access, quotas or ticketing, and we publish no individual guide’s licence or byline. If something here is out of date, tell us through the contact page and we will date the correction.
